Il bilby (Macrotis lagotis) è un raro marsupiale notturno; ho avuto la possibilità di vederlo e fotografarlo nella foresta di Dryandra, uno dei pochilembi di foresta di eucalipto originaria rimasta in Australia sud-occidentale; all'interno del Parco sono state recintate delle parcelle di foresta, degattizzate e devolpizzate, per proteggere e far riprodurre marsupiali minacciati, tra i quali il woolye, il boodie, il mala e appunto il bilby, che vengono attirati con pezzetti di frutta e funghi disseccati.
