Marine Turtles Conservation Sanctuary. Nella punta più a Nord di Zanzibar, in prossimità del faro del piccolo villaggio di pescatori di Nungwi, si trova un'ampia laguna naturale formatasi nella roccia corallina vicino alla spiaggia. Da circa 25 anni in questa laguna sono accolte da volontari e studiosi le tartarughe marine rimaste imprigionate (e spesso ferite) nelle reti dei pescatori. Qui vengono curate e – nei momenti più favorevoli dell'anno - rilasciate in mare. Nel tempo il progetto si è ampliato ed ora la laguna è diventata anche un luogo di riproduzione delle tartarughe (soprattutto verdi ed embricate). La laguna è splendida, direttamente collegata al mare da cui prende anche l'effetto delle maree.
