Questa maestosa opera di ingegneria fu aperta nel 1966 ed ha supposto un cambiamento radicale nelle comunicazioni della città. E' costruito in acciaio, con una lunghezza di più di due chilometri su due grandi pilastri che lo elevano sopra il fiume Tago.
