Il santuario di Santa Croce si trova a 2.045 m.s.l.m., ai piedi dell'imponente Monte Santa Croce, sopra il paese Oies. La piccole chiesetta venne costruita più di 500 anni fa e fu consacrata nel 1484 dal Vescovo ausiliario di Bressanone. Studiosi però presumono che il Santa Croce sia stato un luogo di culto pagano tantissimi anni fa, la cui costruzione sia avvenuta prima che il paese di San Leonardo fosse abitato. Il nome “Col dei Paternostri” (in ladino colle dei “Padre Nostri”), che si riferisce ad un posto antistante al Santuario, potrebbe essere una prima indicazione per questo fatto. Ulteriori documenti trovati testimoniano, che nel 1584 il parroco si obbligava a celebrare ben 6 Sante Messe all'anno nella chiesetta di Santa Croce. All'interno del santuario oggi troviamo un'altare, dove sono conservate reliquie antiche di vari santi. Nel campanile, il quale fu costruito nel 17esimo secolo, ci sono tre grandi campane, che riecheggiano tra le pareti della montagna sovrastante. Il santuario di Santa Croce è inoltre anche meta di innumerevoli pellegrinaggi che coinvolgono per lo piú le popolazioni locali, ma anche fedeli di tutto il mondo. Buona visione a tutti. Raw
