at 16mm, 1/80 f/18.0, ISO 400, Namib-Naukluft Park, Namibia.

Ciao.

Beautiful place and composition well-kept, the less successful the post with shadows too open, little definition and artifacts in the background and the sky ;-)

For Catherine, the shadows were already naturally open in the second half, maybe I would not open due to over .. The definition has been posted to a minimum and as far as the sky and the background, there are no artifacts if not a slight increase of the saturation of the dunes. But what exactly do you mean by artifacts?
For the curious of the place, probably soon will put it in the DESTINATIONS.

Posto fantastico ripreso molto bene.

Ciao

Great place recovered very well.
I think that Catherine wishes in the sky (and dunes) you can see the bands due to the difference in brightness / saturation.
This is usually due to excessive compression or Jpeg or when changing too much saturation and curves in PP.

Splendido luogo e splendida foto, ottima composizione.
ciao

Beautiful place and great picture, excellent composition.
The HD version is of very poor quality, probably just a matter of jpg compression but you should take it in hand because the photo deserves more attention.

" Ma esattamente cosa intendi per artefatti?? "
CiaoSorriso

But what exactly do you mean by artifacts?

As you have said quality is compromised probably by one or more passages of strong compression artifacts Jpg sone very evident for example in the edges of the dunes which in fact often strokes appear jagged but also in the sky very stained and with passaggitonali at the limit of posterization, the that the problem is present on all the images in your gallery suggests a Workflow wrong, and it is a great pity because the images you see that you have a great photographic eye and you're good at composing. If we quickly describe the steps you do in post (click on Raw?) Maybe we can understand the origin of the problem and give you a couple of good advice ;-)

Sorriso

Shooting in Raw and elaborate all the photos one by one .. The problem is very simple. The photo that I posted and you are looking at is only 417 k, while the original definition is the maximum of 8.71 Mb. All images in the gallery are at a minimum weight. Definitely not the best way to share to you will have a critical effective .. (After all it's my first gallery that place ..). This is all good advice are welcome. :-)

ciao

The problem is very simple. The photo that I posted and you are looking at is only 417 k ...

The problem is that you have saved 417k in just a picture of 4288x2848 pixels, and you have not done it properly.
On this forum you can post photos of any size and weight, but your problem is that you make a bad file compression in jpg format with a choice of size / weight completely wrong.
If you follow the tutorial you pointed Catherine be able to produce good images at 1200 pixels and 400k or tablets still have clear images without exaggerating the weight even larger.
