Siamo ora nella penisola di Snaefellsnes dove le altissime scogliere sono dimora di migliaia di uccelli. Tra i tanti pennuti presenti c'è la Sterna codalunga che costruisce il suo nido facendo una cunetta nella sabbia, dove depone 2-3 uova di colore marrone o verdastro con macchie marrone, che cova per circa 3 settimane. E' necessario fare la massima attenzione a non invadere il territorio dove sono presenti i nidi in quanto la sterna codalunga attacca con picchiate decise chiunque si avvicini, uomo compreso con colpi di becco. Vederle volteggiare minacciose sopra di me non era poi così tranquillizzante.
