A Monument to an Eccentric Englishman's Horse! sent on August 09, 2017 (2:32) by Timk2. 30 comments, 1153 views. [retina]

at 10mm, 1/80 f/11.0, ISO 100, hand held. Winchester, United Kingdom.

Taken last September (so there was NO frost!) this whitewashed monument marks the place where a famous horse is buried, when, when, with its owner riding, fell into a ten meter deep chalk pit, in 1733. A year later, the same horse won an important horse-race locally and had become a legend. I chose these now rather steep and overgrown steps up to the Monument, known as Farley Mount as a foreground. Access is now to one side. #Blackandwhite

A great angle of view, Tim, and I love the post processing that makes the monument stand out so well against the sky!

Beautiful story and beautiful image, I really like the contrast between the white of the monument and the sky. The path is good: it seems to lead the observer to the monument. Congratulations Tim! Hello :-)
