Russia, estate 1941.

Nice shot and beautiful how dramatic the tale. These episodes should be talked more often to remind us what war is, warriors are doing well and how much human life is in a war. I'm glad those men have been saved, but it would have been better if the fools who caused such destruction were executed before the damage. Sometimes extreme ills are not to be repudiated.
Thanks for the publication and the caption.
With sincere appreciation

Thanks Gabbia65 and Jancuia, your words move me and I'm proud of you. When you are young, the stories of "old people" often escape and are not appreciated, but then when some "old" stories are found, especially when supported by images, they come back to the mind and appear to be scripts or film scenes. Looking at my father who almost loves that big vehicle, I tried to identify myself during that terrible episode and saw the subtle thread of fate resist and not break to allow me to relive a story, among the many that have happened and unfortunately remained unknown.
Thanks again and greetings.
Paul

Thanks to you, Paul and above all thanks to your Dad, who helped to put an end to the swarm of war, unfortunately because of being part of that crazy game.
Honor and merit to all the victims and those who, by mere play of destiny, have succeeded in re-embracing their loved ones.

Bravo, you did well to post this photo and write the caption.
I have been able to read a lot of that (and not just that) wretched enterprise that was the campania of Russia ...
Where the enemy was not just an atrocious army, but an inhuman and inhospitable environment and atmosphere faced without adequate endowment. And the most deplorable of the war is the deception of making everyone believe to be right and ask for the extreme sacrifice in the name of words like "homeland", "honor", "faith" ...
Let us not forget all the young fallen victims, before the enemy fire, the government of their country, and all the sufferings suffered.

Thank you Walter, Gino and Luigi, thank you very much. There is a particular moment, I think it happens in all of us, where old stories lived by grandparents or parents take on particular importance. These stories are already heard, but that particular moment makes them appreciate and revive in a special way ... even more if they are accompanied by old photos. I have posted two more photos, I hope they will be welcomed with the same heat you have shown.
A big greeting
Paul

The war only wants those who decide it and do it with documents and talk.
I apologize to all these men who, on the other hand, are forced to do so on the field, proponent of force, intelligence, courage, and attributes that, not for the tales of our dear ones, would also make us only to perceive its size.
It's alive as my grandfather and dad told me ...
Honor to them, even with a small document like this

Thank you Paul for your visit and your words that honor everyone and then my father too. I only realize in old age how precious little documents are left by grandparents and fathers: it is a pity not to perceive their importance first.

Touching testimonies worth two lives for precisely. Human stupidity will never end, history teaches it. Valuable and dramatic memory photos like this deserve a special applause. It's good to publish it and make us part of a significant war event. Whether or not to be there sometimes depends on the intuition and the case. That's life. Congrats Paolo.
Bye gios ;-)

Thanks Gios for your simple but significant words.
Time spends inevitably but what matters is that it should never forget events whose importance never loses value.

Nice document, lucky you still have it, I can not find anything more about grandparents ...
The stories that I have collected both from relatives and from people known by chance would like to write them in a book and sooner or later I will do it. there are so many things to tell ... not only sad stories of war, but also episodes at the edge of the comic and others of daily courage or extraordinary unconsciousness, things that are incredible today.

Thank you for publishing this photo. My father was also sent to Russia. He told me about the many sacrifices made and the sufferings suffered. The breath was freezing on the mouth and in many, trying to remove it, tried to tear it away and the lips were also gone. He and other comrades were rescued by peasant families who sheltered them from freezing. Unfortunately not all.

for your thought and appreciation. I have collected three or four photographs that testify to my father's experience: I am sorry only that I have not deepened further, for my lightness, other episodes he experienced. Every so often about these photos and I get emotional: it is an emotion that I dedicate to them.
