Qualche giorno fa, mentre andavo in giro per Roma in compagnia della mia amata D7000, sono capitato casualmente in Via di Panico n. 55 e sono rimasto ammaliato da alcune bellissime e simpatiche sculture, opera del Maestro Rodrigo DE LA SIERRA. Qui di seguito, Vi racconto qualcosa di questo genio contemporaneo riportando il testo integrale della recensione che io stesso ho letto con molto interesse:
"Non ci poteva essere ambasciatore più bello e gioioso a Roma di TIMO. Timoteo, meglio conosciuto come Timo, frutto dell'auto-didatta artista scultore messicano Rodrigo DE LA SIERRA, ci accompagna con una danza, attraverso le vicissitudini della vita, in modo incomparabile. Non c'è da stupirsi se l'artista ha scelto, per i suoi bronzi, patine chiare per rappresentare questa piccola ed eroica figura. DE LA SIERRA utilizza le avventure di Timo come metafore per i momenti non troppo felici che il mondo sta' attualmente attraversando. Nato come architetto, DE LA SIERRA usa le sue conoscenze in architettura per creare le proprie sculture, e ha ottenuto, in un periodo molto breve, grande successo e riconoscimenti. Nato a Citta' del Messico, dove vive e lavora. Le sue opere sono in molte collezioni sia messicane che nord americane, con mostre in diversi musei. DE LA SIERRA e' molto entusiasta di questa sua prima mostra in Europa ma soprattutto in una prestigiosa citta' quale è Roma. Diverse sculture sono state attentamente selezionate per la sua personale. Da "Tempi Moderni", installazione in resina di molti piccoli Timo, mischiati in una catena di montaggio, ad un bronzo alto tre metri di un trio di timo in equilibrista sul mondo, alla piu recente creazione "Memento Mori" un riferimento diretto alla crudelta' e futilita' della guerra. DE LA SIERRA riesce a toccare i temi piu importanti della societa' odierna. L'artista ha conquistato il difficile, e a volte impossibile compito, di rappresentare concettualmente temi seri presentando un'arte gioiosa e molto ben eseguita. Un difficile connubio attraverso il quale Timo conquista con la sua leggerezza dell'essere".
In questo scatto, che io intitolo "sull'orlo del baratro", si intuisce tutta la drammaticità del difficile momento che stiamo attraversando.
