TOPOLINI Nel 1935 il comune fece costruire quattro padiglioni (due per gli uomini e due per le donne), con terrazze semicircolari. Questi nuovi stabilimenti furono chiamati “TOPOLINI”. Vennero costruiti al di sotto del livello stradale, in modo da non impedire a chi transitava sulla strada la visuale del golfo. In quell'occasione venne istituito un servizio di autobus per migliorare i collegamenti con i bagni comunali; con un biglietto unico veniva offerto un servizio combinato tram più autobus. Negli anni successivi furono costruiti altri padiglioni e vennero fatte altre modifiche, trasformando la riviera barcolana, sino a Miramàr, in uno spazio balneare pubblico gratuito. Riguardo l'origine del nome si trovano due ipotesi, potrebbe derivare da “Topo”, un' imbarcazione originaria della laguna veneta, ma molto usata nel mare di “Barcola, oppure dal fatto che questi stabilimenti balneari sono costituiti da dieci terrazzamenti semicircolari accoppiati a due a due e dall'alto ricordano la forma delle orecchie di Miky Mouse, il nostro Topolino.
