La Mia Città

Swallowing the city sent on July 09, 2017 (10:37) by Alessandro Callea. 30 comments, 1092 views. [retina]

, 1/640 f/8.0, ISO 200, hand held. Civitavecchia, Italy.

Particular moment and effect makes it quite ... I'm not convinced about that horizon so precise in the middle of the photo .. leaves a little too much of empty space on the top.

But overall I like it.

Thank you for the passage and for the advice, in fact you are right maybe I should have cut a few skies, say at least 1/3 :-)

Very scenic atmospheric phenomena.
Seeing it even in high resolution, I cut the part down to almost the periphery and a part of the sky.
It would narrow the view of the city and the fog of fog, which in part are now lost.

Thanks also to you Mattefra for the advice, fortunately at the moment are all things feasible, just cut a bit the photo above and below, to actually turn more attention to the atmospheric phenomenon 8-)

Of course it is the first time I see a cloud over the sea.
The moment is intense and very engaging but the photo does little.
I've magnified the image and glimpse the ships that blend with the buildings
Personally, I would have made this area more noticeable.

In fact, the idea is that of a tsunami! You have done well to catch such a particular moment but the composition I do not like. The sky is uninteresting in this case and I find you have given it too much space. I would only have granted him the first third. Black and white is a good idea to reinforce the idea of ??the tsunami but here it seems to me a bit 'fly (personal taste). I would opt for a more controversial and decisive b / n.

For me the idea of ??black and white is wrong in this case. There would be very intense colors that were included.

The part below tells little, the city seems almost indistinguishable in individual houses. I would cut it most.

Very nice moment but I do not like composition that does not make a very effective moment of the moment very beautiful. I might have preferred a crop. Great toning.

Beautiful, the impression of the coming wave is very vivid. But why in black and white?

Hi Riccardo and thanks for the comment, the photo was made in color, but I modified it in B / N believing it made the situation more dramatic, all here

The meteorological phenomenon is interesting, but I do not think it is well-highlighted because of the composition: the bottom and top of the picture seem useless and too far away the observer from the real subject of the photo that the clouds are.
The b / n may stay, but I think it should be more dramatic.

Thanks to you Alex, good or bad you all highlighted the same problems 8-)
And to think that I had left it so to give the sense of how catastrophic the phenomenon could have been, had it been a real tsunami, imagining that by croaking a little I would have choked the shot

Beautiful and definitely impressive, but in my opinion there is a bit too gray sky up and maybe a too much underdark. A wider cut (sensor permitting) would help a lot. Anyway I like it, it looks like a photo of Italo Insolera!
