Ciao Carlo, you made a very beautiful and unique image! Most birdwatchers and naturalists know the theory behind "the brood strategy" of this species, but few have actually witnessed it! Now you have, and you "captured" this Common Cuckoo very nicely (both visually and photographically) when it was leaving the redstarts nest. For me it's the first time that I read or hear about a Common Cuckoo laying its eggs in a artificial nesting site, instead of a natural nest. The species it chose as "host" (Common Redstart / Codirosso) is not uncommon. Nothing short of an amazing encounter and a great picture to prove it! Congratulations and good luck on your next session! Kind regards, Hans |

Thanks Luigi and Hans, no doubt it was a very lucky situation but I did not make the best use of it, like a hidden appendage to photograph when the chorus brought him food for lack of time and light when I could. When the bottle came in, it did not stop even one day on nearby plants, as I hoped to do, but from the chanting song I feel must have gone into a private property I can not access Grazie Luigi e Hans, sí senza dubbio è stata una situazione molto fortunata che non ho però sfruttato al meglio, tipo con un appostamento nascosto per fotografare quando i codirossi gli portavano il cibo, per mancanza di tempo, e luce quando invece avrei potuto. Quando poi il pullo si è involato non si è fermato nemmeno un giorno sulle piante vicine, come speravo facesse, ma dal canto dei codirossi che sento dev'essere andato in una proprietá privata a cui non posso accedere |
