La prima volta che sono stato al Lake Eyasi una quincidicina di anni fa per vedere gli Hadzabe di ceppo boscimane, sono stato folgorato dai Datoga che non conoscevo e di cui non avevo mai visto foto. Allora il lago rimaneva al di fuori del 99% degli itinerary e l' approccio della gente era davvero di grande cusioristà e disponibilità. Questa donna stava vendendo miele nell' assolato e bellissimo mercato che si svolge una volta al mese. Ho avuto la fortuna di capitarci la prima volta nel giorno giusto e poi ci sono tornato ogni volta che ho potuto. I Datoga sono una tribù nilotica affine ai Masai che una volta viveva nelle vicinanze del Ngorongoro da cui sono stati cacciati e relegati nella zona del lago dopo un epica battaglia prorpio con i Masai. A differenza dei Masai si vestono con stoffe molto spesso nere e la caratteristica più evidente sono le scarificazioni rituali introno agli occhi e gorsse collane fatte da anelli di ottone. Come forse già sapete, a fine febbraio tornerò in Tanzania e se qualcuno ha voglia di unirsi mi dica qualcosa....
