Una delle piu' antiche fra le residenze sabaude,il Castello di Moncalieri si erge in tutta la sua pacata monumentalita' a guardia del Po,poco distante da Torino. Edificato in epoca medievale con scopi difensivi,fu trasformato dai Savoia in "luogo di delizie" a seguito di numerosi interventi di abbellimento e ampliamento. Molto amato dai personaggi femminili di Casa Savoia come la regina Maria Adelaide e le principesse Clotilde e Letizia,il Castello fu luogo di soggiorno,sede dell'educazione dei giovani principi e teatro di eventi clamorosi; frammenti di Storia e ricordi familiari aleggiano ancora negli appartamenti reali collegati al vasto parco che si estende sulla collina. Tornando ai giorni nostri,si puo' notare per contrapposizione,la matassa di legna e arbusti accatastata alla base di questo ponte,come di tanti altri,dalle varie piene del grande fiume,la cui rimozione viene sempre rimandata da una amministrazione comunale alla successiva.
