177 Km per più di 4000 metri di dislivello: non sono molte le Granfondo in Italia così dure e difficili. Il percorso della Granfondo si divide da quello della Mediofondo già alle porte di Cuneo. Dopo aver percorso il viadotto Soleri si svolta verso Busca. Dopo 30 km in piano si affronta la prima salita della giornata, quella che conduce al santuario di Valmala (mt 1.380) in Valle Varaita. Appena il tempo di prendere fiato e, superata Dronero, con il passaggio sul ponte del Diavolo, è già tempo di affrontare la seconda salita di giornata. Uno strappo di 10 km verso la Piatta Soprana e la Valle Grana con picchi al 14% per circa 10 km. Scesi in Valle Grana, il percorso della Granfondo si riunisce a quello della Mediofondo: le grandi difficoltà della salita regina della competizione aspettano: Il Colle Fauniera dove ho scattato la foto.
