All'inizio della primavera, a più di 1500 metri di altezza, le rane temporarie si destano dalla pausa invernale: escono dal terreno e dai rifugi, raggiungono una pozza formata dal disgelo delle nevi e qui si accoppiano e depongono le uova in masserelle gelatinose. Lungo i piccoli corsi che scendono dal massiccio del Monte Giovo, che si scorge in lontananza, non è difficile imbattersi in queste ovature, che sfidando le gelide acque porteranno alla nascita di girini che durante la primavera si accresceranno grazie alla vegetazione che si svilupperà nella pozza.
