Era ancora orario di possibili azioni di caccia, eravamo partiti da Halali all'alba in direzione Namutoni, quando nei pressi di Okerfontein (superato Batia) ecco avvistare in lontananza verso il pan una leonessa isolata, all'ombra di un albero. La distanza era notevole (immagino più di 150mt), quindi impossibile da fotografare, ma il gusto dell'Africa non si ferma alla fotografia...il bello è saper osservare. Pochi minuti dopo, con l'idea di farci un super regalo ecco la leonessa che dal suo giaciglio iniziò a muoversi proprio verso di noi, con lo sfondo la linea orizzontale del pan...in leggera controluce e in condizione non proprio favorevoli, ma lei ha deciso così...e ci ha regalato un meraviglioso momento. Ha attraversato la strada con tutta calma e si è diretta verso il bush dal lato opposto. Una leonessa in solitudine che vagando si lasciò il pan di Etosha alle sue spalle.
