Villanova Mitica - 27 maggio 2017 I Celti, per celebrare l'arrivo della bella stagione, erano soliti festeggiare Beltaine, che si caratterizzava come una festa dedicata al dio della luce Bel. Anche lo stesso termine “Beltaine” significa “fuoco luminoso” e proprio il fuoco, inteso nella sua accezione di elemento purificatore e rinnovatore, era il protagonista dei particolari riti che venivano messi in atto in questa occasione. I Celti tenevano in grande considerazione il fuoco e lo utilizzavano in diverse circostanze e con vari obiettivi. Il bestiame veniva fatto passare tra due fuochi, in modo da essere purificato dalle forze negative. I giovani che volevano trovare una sposa saltavano sul fuoco e lo stesso facevano i viaggiatori per avere un viaggio senza pericoli e le donne in attesa di un bambino per poter contare su un parto non complicato. Durante il Beltaine venivano celebrati dei matrimoni a scadenza che avevano la durata di un anno. Si trattava di un modo per favorire la fecondità, intimamente connessa alla rinascita e al risveglio della natura. I druidi mettevano in pratica dei rituali specifici, per fare in modo che la terra producesse i suoi frutti senza incontrare ostacoli.
