at 32mm, 1/640 f/6.3, ISO 100, hand held. Ostuni, Italy.

La chiesa del Carmine di Ostuni con la sua facciata neoclassica, costituisce un contrasto gradevole che integra perfettamente il colore caldo della pietra icon il bianco di tutto il borgo antico. La chiesa è molto antica, risale addirittura al XV, quando era dedicata alla Madonna della Misericordia. L'aspetto attuale lo si deve ai restauri del 1891, quando su disegno dell'architetto Gaetano Jurleo assunse l'agile ed elegante versione neoclassica. Della tradizione barocca, rimangono all'interno sei altari del 1776 e alcune statue. La volta dell'unica navata, è affrescata con dipinti a soggetto carmelitano. Un prezioso reperto che si conserva nella zona absidale, è una parte dell'antico pavimento maiolicato con un raffinato disegno geometrico di scuola napoletana.
