Storia del sito: Sul tracciato di una via che univa Proh a Camodeia (Castellazzo Novarese), esistono i resti di Santa Maria, un piccolo monastero benedettino (cella), dipendente anticamente dall'abbazia di San Silano di Romagnano Sesia. E' una delle rare fondazioni superstiti consacrate dal vescovo Litifredo (1123 –1151). Il cenobio, oggi non più in uso, è integrato in un edificio rurale. Dell'insediamento, completamente distrutto, rimane l'abside maggiore della chiesa. Originariamente a tre navate è ora ridotta ad un corpo longitudinale già usato come abitazione o a scopi agricoli, attualmente abbandonato. Descrizione del sito: L'esterno dell'abside centrale, l'unica superstite, è decorato superiormente da una serie di archetti pensili sormontati da un corso di frammenti di mattoni e da due corsi di mattoni messi di costa leggermente obliqui. Ai lati dell'abside rimangono gli attacchi delle absidiole laterali. Nell'abside si aprono tre monofore di sezione diversa. La muratura perimetrale rivela una particolare attenzione cromatica attraverso un'accurata disposizione del cotto e della pietra bianca, utilizzata con funzione decorativa. Al suo interno, il catino absidale conserva affreschi quattrocenteschi di scuola novarese, sono visibili l'immagine del Cristo Pantocratore in mandorla con i simboli dei quattro Evangelisti e, al di sotto, i dodici Apostoli. La figura di san Bernardino si trova sulla parete sinistra.
