Questo genere di formica ha adattato la sua alimentazione in rapporto all'ambiente circostante, in pratica hanno trovato sul posto questi afidi delle piante, e in un certo senso li allevano e proteggono. Da ciò ne ricavano in cambio le sostanze Zuccherine di cui si nutrono, rilasciate dagli afidi sotto forma di goccioline della consistenza del miele. Nella foto si vede la formica che controlla l'afide in attesa di questa sostanza zuccherosa. Sotto la formica le spoglie lasciate dagli afidi ,una sorta di esoscheletro, perché' aumentati di dimensione , cioè' sono cresciuti. Nessun programma di fusione immagine.
