'Last Year's Leaves' - Original 'Edited' sent on April 05, 2017 (23:43) by Timk2. 13 comments, 1245 views. [retina]

at 11mm, 1/125 f/2.8, ISO 160, hand held.

The original edited that I then solarised and colour altered. My original idea was to use the maximum f2.8 aperture and minimum focus distance (a rather poor 30cm) of the Tokina 11-16mm to separate the autumnal leaves from the tree and background. I desaturated a fair amount all but the blue of the sky and brown of leaves to leave this. I wasn't sure if this was enough to make the shot successful, but it was all I was able to do with shot and this idea. The Tokina is no bokeh king, as you can see and so it really needed some help and ideas to take the image further.

Yes, I like this, too, although I like the version where you've turned it into a piece of art best! I like the way you've isolated the leaves from the background - I think I may have boosted their colour a little more.

Thank you for coming back to this, Ann, yes, it was that point of turning up their colour a bit more and it starting to look unnatural that I then went full blast by doing the 'treatment' that you refer.

Beautiful color detail, I like the selective focus on the leaves!

Thank you Laura! Selective focus with an ultrawide lens is not easy!
