The knight of Italy (Himantopus himantopus (Linnaeus, 1758)) is an aquatic bird of the family Recurvirostridi. Adults are 33 to 40 cm long and can weigh up to 200 g. The legs can reach 30 cm in length. During the flight, the flapping of the wings alternating with short glides and feet leave the length of the body, giving the knight of Italy looks elegant.
