Il Castello Scaligero di Valeggio sul Mincio fu eretto dagli Scaligeri ampliando una vecchia torre medioevale e divenne una caposaldo difensivo dei loro territori. Successivamente sconfitti dai Visconti, nel 1393 Gian Galeazzo Visconti creò un complesso fortificato unendolo al ponte-diga visconteo sul Mincio. Con l'avvento di nuove tecniche di guerra per il complesso iniziò un periodo di decadenza fino a ciò che é ancora visibile ai giorni nostri.
