Il faticosissimo pellegrinaggio sulla vetta dello Sri Pada viene compiuto durante l'inverno di notte per evitare le elevatissime temperature del giorno che renderebbero il già estenuate cammino "spirituale" pressochè impossibile. Molti pellegrini scelgono di affrontare la discesa durante le tenebre, ma una piccola parte aspetta l'alba per vedere il meraviglioso panorama e la particolare ombra triangolare generata per pochissimi minuti dal monte Sri Pada stesso nella vallata sottostante.
