Altre figure importantissime dell' "esercito" creato per cacciare i pirati saraceni erano i "Sapeurs" (notare la "S" sull'ascia, assolutamente funzionante!): si trattava di un vero e proprio corpo di guastatori incaricati di abbattere gli alberi davanti ai saraceni in rotta, ostacolandone così la fuga in modo che fossero raggiunti e affrontati o dai cavalieri o dagli "Escarlinie", i valligiani che costituivano la fanteria, armati di mazze variamente decorate. Piccola nota tecnica in margine: come si vede dai dati riportati, ho utilizzato per le riprese, non facilissime data la grande affluenza di pubblico nella borgata, la K70 con il Pentax DA 55-300 F/4,5-6,3 ED PLM WR, utilizzando per di più il punto di MAF laterale destro (per l'inquadratura verticale) con AF.C: non ho mai notato la minima incertezza o imprecisione dell'AF in nessuna delle numerose immagini riprese.
