Quest'anno la festa si è svolta dal 12 al 23 febbraio, giovedì grasso, come sempre con grande affluenza di pubblico; una delle molte "figure" del corteo è l' "Abbà", abbreviazione di Abate, nome dato scherzosamente dai giovani a parodia e benevola presa in giro del clero, figura di primissimo piano e di fatto "finanziatore" della medesima festa; anticamente, infatti, lo "sponsor", si direbbe oggi, della manifestazione, vendeva qualche capo di bestiame per poter pagare i festeggiamenti. La ribellione ai saccheggi dei saraceni maturò dopo anni di soprusi e violenze e i valligiani si dotarono di un vero e proprio esercito con numerose specialità, per combattere gli invasori.
