Un'altra puntata della morte di questo pesce gatto: è stata l'unica volta in cui siamo riusciti ad assistere per intero alla predazione da parte di un caimano. Questo è uno dei primi momenti della caccia, precedente alla foto ''il caimano ed il pesce gatto'', qui il rettile ha da poco catturato il pesce e stende i muscoli della bocca per poter avere una presa più salda ed inghiottirlo. Le relazioni tra pesci e caimani sono centrali nella vita di Porto Jofre e di tutto il Pantanal, l'abbondanza di pesce e la facilità di reperirlo nella stagione secca permettono un esagerato sviluppo dei caimani, i quali adesso nel Pantanal sono circa 30 milioni; questo attira i predatori in particolare il giaguaro, che mette in cima al suo menù i caimani. Qualche breve nota sulla PP: rispetto all'altra foto ho volutamente desaturato un po' la scena per dare un taglio più drammatico all'evento, inoltre la luce del pomeriggio non era una delle migliori per incorniciare il momento.
