Cavolaia - Pieris brassicae L. Piante ospiti: Cavolfiore ed altre Crucifere. Identificazione La Cavolaia è una farfalla diffusa ovunque; l'adulto può raggiungere circa 60 mm di apertura alare. Le ali sono bianche; quelle anteriori hanno le estremità apicali nere e, nelle femmine, sono ornate da due macchie nere per ala. La larva, lunga circa 35-40 mm, è di colore giallognolo verdastro, macchiettato di nero; il corpo è ricoperto da rade setole. Ciclo biologico La Cavolaia sverna come crisalide appesa in ripari, tra la corteccia o nei muretti, ecc. Gli adulti compaiono da aprile e lo sfarfallamento prosegue fino a maggio (1° volo); questi adulti si accoppiano e depongono le uova in gruppi sulla pagina inferiore delle foglie del Cavolfiore. Dopo circa 15 giorni nascono le larve della 1a generazione che vivono, per un certo periodo, gregarie; a maturità si incrisalidano e, a fine giugno-inizi luglio, compaiono i nuovi adulti (2° volo) che danno avvio alla seconda generazione. A questa generazione ne possono seguire altre. La Cavolaia compie, generalmente, da 3 a 4 generazioni all'anno, a seconda del clima. FONTE: http://www.agraria.org/entomologia-agraria/cavolaia.htm
