I was most jealous of my friend AnnH's sighting and image of starlings yesterday! This morning, about half hour before sunrise, I was heading out onto the Amesbury Watermeadows (where I was to later take some most lovely misty frosty scenes) and the telegraph wires were laden with these birds. My lack of knowledge means I do not know their species. It was quite dark still and I needed enough depth of field to cover both near and far lines of birds and I had to stoop down too, to raise the distant ones above the horizon! But the slowish shutter speed has helped create a little blur on the wings of the faster moving birds. |

I am a little jealous of this shot, too, Tim! It's beautiful! The telegraph wires and birds make great silhouettes against that gorgeous morning light! It was well worth crouching to be able to include the lower row of birds. I imagine these also are starlings. Thanks for the mention! Ann :)) |

Thank you Andrew! Good weekend to you too! Thank you also, Ann - I had to zoom in to get these and I also think they are starlings but I didn't want to blatantly say so. It also helps that the nearest pole is reasonably intricate too. |
