Agilbert è nato e cresciuto a Colonia e tutti gli anni, a Natale apre la sua bancarella per i famosi mercatini. Ha attirato la mia attenzione per via dei baffi "a manubrio". E' stato molto gentile, si è fatto fotografare e ci ha offerto anche un ottimo vin brulé. Di seguito qualche cenno sulla tradizione dei mercatini della città. La tradizione dei Mercatini di Natale nasce in Germania ed Alsazia intorno al 1400 e forse anche prima. All'epoca si attendevano le fiere per fare acquisti e in queste zone d'Europa le fiere natalizie presero una piega tutta particolare. Il mercatino di Colonia è un mercatino medioevale con un'atmosfera unica. Tra i mercatini di Natale tedeschi è famoso proprio per la coinvolgente atmosfera natalizia, la pista di pattinaggio e le bancarelle medioevali. Inizia il 21 novembre e va avanti fino a Natale. A Colonia ci sono diversi mercatini, sette per la precisione, Nella splendida cornice del simbolo di Colonia il mercatino di Natale del Duomo vi aspetta con 150 tende che espongono autentici capolavori di artigianato. Il Duomo non si gusta solo con gli occhi, ma anche con il palato: gli Spekulatius, tipici biscotti speziati, ne riprendono infatti la forma. Verrete conquistati dal regno degli angeli allestito sulla piazza Neumarkt: sotto la calda luce del cielo stellato vi attendono gli stand allestiti minuziosamente con i frontoni dalle ricche decorazioni, attraverso i quali si libra un angelo. Sulla piazza Rudolfplatz i bambini potranno divertirsi nel paradiso delle fiabe. Il centro storico ospita anche il rustico mercatino dedicato agli gnomi, il "Markt der Heinzel". Nel parco cittadino viene allestito un mercatino natalizio idilliaco dallo stile romantico e raffinato. Vicino al museo della cioccolata, direttamente sulla riva del Reno, lasciatevi avvolgere dal fascino marittimo nel mercatino di Natale del porto. Nelle pagode a forma di vela sono esposti capolavori dell'artigianato che hanno come tema il porto e la navigazione, mentre sulla nave in legno a tre alberi "Trudel" potrete gustare il vin brûlé come dei veri lupi di mare. I canti marinareschi, le tipiche melodie natalizie, i giochi da pirati e molto altro ancora vi faranno vivere l'atmosfera natalizia nello stile dei marinai. Una novità che non passa di certo inosservata è la Christmas Avenue, il mercatino mercatino natalizio gay di Colonia tra la banca Sparkasse e il centro Westgate sulla piazza Rudolfplatz che vi attende con spettacoli di cabaret e diversi eventi.
