Con il ricordo ancora vivo della megattera emersa a meno di 10 metri dal nostro peschereccio e con Goðafoss ancora nei nostri occhi siamo ripartiti in direzione Mývatn dove avremmo trascorso i successivi due giorni. Il lago dei moscerini (questo il significato del suo nome islandese) è il quarto in ordine di grandezza di tutta l'Islanda ed una delle zone più affascinanti per concentrazione di bellezze naturali. Sulle sue sponde si possono ammirare strabilianti formazioni laviche create dalle colate incandescenti a contatto con l'acqua fredda, oppure labirinti in cui si diramano piccoli sentieri a contatto con una natura estrema. In altre zone del lago emergono dall'acqua formazioni laviche dette “pseudo-crateri”, create da violente esplosioni di lava. Non amo ricercare il cibo italiano quando sono lontano da casa, ma mi piace ricordare la strana pizza mangiata al tramonto da Daddi`s, un piccolo campeggio sulle sponde del Mývatn, uno dei pochi pasti veri di questo viaggio e costataci la bellezza di trenta euro.
