Prologo. La sera prima. Ore 19. Mi trovo in aeroporto a Bologna per tornare a Bari, il giorno dopo mi aspetta un matrimonio. L'aereo parte con oltre un'ora di ritardo. Arrivo a Bari ma l'aereo viene dirottato su Lamezia Terme a causa del vento forte (giuro che non è colpa mia). Atterro a Lamezia Terme verso le 23.00. Ci comunicano che ci avrebbero portato a Bari con l'autobus. Dopo oltre due ore di attesa e di disagi grazie a Ryanair arriva l'autobus, partiamo. Giorno 7 gennaio. Arrivo all'aeroporto di Bari alle 8 del mattino senza aver chiuso occhio. Alle 9 viene a prendermi il mio braccio destro Anto Nazima per andare a casa dello sposo. Sento lo sposo per dirgli di stare tranquillo e che sarà una giornata particolare e divertente in tutti i sensi. Arrivo dallo sposo, facciamo qualche foto. Ore 10.15. Vado dalla sposa. Inutile dire che è tesa come una corda di violino. Sarebbe stato difficile il contrario. Le faccio le foto sorridendo, improvviso una serie di battute. Sia lei che io sappiamo che bisogna sciogliere la tensione. Ma non basta. Arriva una telefonata nel bel mezzo dello shooting. Sento il padre della sposa e il fratello alterarsi. La simpatica ditta degli autobus, che gli sposi avevano chiamato per accompagnare gli ospiti e loro stessi in sala, ha deciso all'ultimo momento di dare forfait compromettendo gravemente la riuscita del matrimonio. In tutta questo caos io non perdo la calma. Più subentrano problemi più io sorrido, consapevole che un inizio difficile avrebbe portato ad un epilogo a mio favore. Non abbiamo mai perso il sorriso, anzi, per me sembra quasi una cosa di normale amministrazione. Poi la brillante idea: decido di portare via la sposa dal contesto generale negativo che si era creato a casa sua. Una volta in auto con noi l'umore della sposa migliora notevolmente. Portiamo la sposa dallo sposo. Io con il sorriso stampato in faccia guardo la neve scendere, con la consapevolezza dello scatto che avrei realizzato e che da sempre desideravo fare. Non me lo sarei perso per niente al mondo. Non sarebbe più capitato di sicuro, almeno non a Bari. Con la complicità degli sposi amanti delle mie fotografie e in accordo con le mie pazzie decidiamo di uscire allo scoperto in mezzo alla tempesta di neve che imperversa. Il freddo penetra fino al midollo e nelle ossa ma non ci fermiamo. Siamo in una location, il quartiere San Paolo di Bari, in cui nessuno avrebbe mai scommesso di realizzare un servizio fotografico di matrimonio. E poi viene fuori questo scatto. PS: alla fine tutto si è risolto, sono arrivati altri autobus e hanno accompagnato tutti in sala, dove si sono svolti tranquillamente il rito e la divertentissima festa.
