Personalmente penso che le ALn663 siano, assieme alle loro antenate di altre serie come le 668, un pezzo importantissimo dello sviluppo italiano. In tanti possono raccontare storie o collegare periodi delle proprie vite a questi treni. Io sono fra questi: dalle superiori all'università esse sono state uno fra i miei più usati mezzi di trasporto; viaggiando con esse ho conosciuto persone, letto libri, baciato fidanzate. Spesso ho sfruttato i 20 minuti di viaggio su di esse per rilassarmi, per ragionare su momenti brutti e per godermi momenti belli. Questa Ln778 è una versione modificata attualmente in forza alla Tper (Trasporto Passeggeri Emilia Romagna), passata sotto l'egida di diversi operatori, ma sempre battendo instancabile la linea Bologna-Portomaggiore. Tra gennaio e febbraio 2012 si registrò una nevicata quasi senza precedenti, da queste parti: il cielo scaricò per più di due giorni di fila. Per quanto disagevole fu bellissimo ed affascinante. Girai per il mio paese con la reflex per immortalare il momento. Quindi in questa foto ci sono due storie: le Aln663, instancabili e inarrestabili anche in queste durissime condizioni, sempre pronte a portare persone su e giù per il territorio, e la neve eccezionale di quei giorni che non dimenticherò facilmente.
