Sicilian Portrait. sent on November 30, 2016 (22:39) by Giuseppe.Cristofalo. 46 comments, 2330 views. [retina]

at 16mm, 1/200 f/4.0, ISO 100, hand held. Palermo, Italy.

I think it's a portrait more than excellent.

The subject is seen that had pleased to be back, but at the same time has not lost its naturalness.

You've been very good at creating it, the choice of 16 mm off the subject from the rest.

The only thing I'm good in focus from the chest age to nose / eyes, forehead seems to me out of focus, but maybe it's just me.

elraw exactly, I do not know how, but I managed to cannare the maf to 16mm and f4: -o
we agree that the af the 6D is a dancer, but here "we hit me" as we say in palermo !! : - |
I hope to meet him again to redo this portrait in the right way!

anyway thanks for the compliments, inspire me a lot to also cultivate this genre!

True Peppecris, there is the focus that is not perfect but I would not put me on the cross I were you. Your use of a wide choice enhances the sympathy of the subject making it fun shooting. The colors of the clothes and skin of the ladies follow this direction and are clearly distinguishable from those duller present in the background. This helps to make the subject stand even in the absence of a reduced depth of field. Also why I think you've handled very well the 16mm. I like it, bravo!

Totally agree, I hope not to have passed the wrong message.

The picture for me is wonderful, the misfortune of this MAF is that the eyes are not perfectly focused and it is them that focuses attention when you look at a picture, the point of greatest MAF, in fact our brain then makes a media and in the calculation will not even realize if other parts are out of focus.
But in this case I'm looking at her eyes, but then my attention immediately moves on the chin, chest, which is clearly focused.

However it's really recently. For me excellent photos.

In the film Leon, the gunman when he explained the "job" the girl said that the first weapon you use is the gun because it allows to maintain a certain distance with the customer ... as you become good you are getting closer . The latest weapon you learn how to use the knife.
Well, being a genre that does not practice almost never have to say you've been able to use "the knife", managing the distortion very well and taking home an original portrait and very interesting. Even the choice of color share it. Bravo!

The photo I love it and the choice of 16mm along with the PDR to clothes and expression of the ladies who perceive the character and the sympathy of the character. Almost everything perfect short except the fire. But rather than fire could be the goal to be a little 'soft at the edges? The depth of field calculated on Canon 6D, 16mm f / 4, and subject to one meter is equal to a meter so unlikely that the eyes are in focus and the front of no less that ... I do not know, look more professional opinion.

Fiosco the subject it was very close to the lens, less than 30 cm.
So of course it's possible to go out of focus unfortunately ..
In any case, the Canon 16-35 is anything but soft :-D

ok, to 30cm the DOF is 7 cm, now back to me. I do not know the Canon optics, so I trust what you tell me ;-)

Hello Peppe! Excellent choice of subject, has exceptional expressiveness. I see a smile a bit 'sad but relaxed at the same time. A face marked by time and experience. The choice of 16mm I find it apt; while not being the focal suited to portraits, in this case enhances the expressiveness and the setting. Sin, and I stress sin, to focus, sends down a notch the quality of a truly successful shot.
Overall I like it. Congratulations Peppe. The portrait is not an easy year for us amateurs, which we must take quickly (perhaps in embarrassment) without being intrusive. And sometimes because of the rush the error is around the corner.

If you get some good shots it is a genre that can give so many emotions and satisfaction.

If you see Julian ... :-D
cmq I do not like, I find it a caricature, not a portrait ... the PP instead I like, I like the colors and hardness that you managed to give your subject.

Beyond the technical speeches of you have already said, I find the use of wide angle and an interesting top pdr ...
The half-smile caught and wide angle distortion creates a relaxed and friendly ...
I do not know if this was the meantime but I like it a lot.
maybe the background could be more polished.
compliments!

Filter was obvious that he could not appeal because unusual choice of 16 mm
Caricature yes, but always portrait is :)
Ales thanks for the compliments, I did not think the background because the subject was already sitting on the bench ..

EXCELLENT!
I believe it is entirely consistent with the character
color and distorting wanted really well managed
I like it very much
beyond perhaps fire (but do not know if it's possible) you could open some shadows on the eyes by increasing the contrast!
Anyway really well done!
