Sui macerati di frana del monte simbolo della città di Palermo esposti a nord, nonostante la vicinanza ai centri abitati e gli scellerati interventi forestali del passato (e anche recenti), è ancora possibile osservare le vestigia della vegetazione che un tempo dominava nella fascia del mesomediterraneo dei massicci carbonatici dell'area del Palermitano.
