Puffin Feeding Study
"Another interesting study this summer, on Puffins, was organized by Ellie Owen of RSPB. Breeding Puffins were mist netted and fitted with remote download tags by Roy Hughes ans Fabrice Le Bouard and their flights to feeding grounds were tracked. Sadly, many flights were all the way down to the nord coast of Orkney, far too far to be sustainable for such a relatively small seabird. Most Puffin chicks consequently failed to survive, a sad fate shared by many of the other seabird chicks here, due to the scarcity of fish around the island".
