"Mestiere antico del salinaio, mestiere legato alla storia della Sicilia, mestiere in estinzione. Si lavora per ore sotto il sole, in mezzo al sale che pesa, ferisce, spacca la pelle, brucia. Anche qui le braccia dell'uomo vengono pian piano sostituite dalle macchine, coi loro ciongoli e i loro ingranaggi." In un paesaggio surreale, dove i colori sembrano aerografati con perizia e la natura far pace con l'ingegno umano, i veri protagonisti passano spesso in secondo piano: i salinai, una figura destinata ad estinguersi ma che ancora oggi vive in pochi veri resistenti.
