Il trabocco Punta Cavalluccio in loc. Rocca S. Giovanni (prov. Chieti). Il trabocco è una "macchina" da pesca, con rete governata da lunghi bracci, un volta tirati a mano, che assicurava un integrazione al magro sostentamento della famiglia che lo possedeva. Lungo la costa abruzzese, vista la relativa poca profondità sotto costa, i trabocchi sono collegati alla terraferma da lunghi pontili, in legno, a volte traballanti. Verso la Puglia garganica, la ripidità di discesa dei fondali, fa si che i trabocchi siano perlopiù costruiti direttamente sulla roccia, ma la funzione era sostanzialmente la stessa. Oggi la quasi totalità dei trabocchi ha perso la funzione primitiva e sono stati riadattati a ristoranti sul mare, dalla vista mozzafiato e dall'indubbio fascino romantico
