Arge pagana sent on July 31, 2012 (18:12) by Cristian Arghius. 6 comments, 1200 views. [retina]

ISO 250, tripod.

56 late afternoon stacked natural light exposures at ISO 250 of Arge pagana sawfly larvae in typical dance posture - eating rose leaves. They are considered a pest, the owner of the garden was preparing to spray them with an insecticide and I was lucky to get there in time to take some photos. I told her I killed them after but in reality I've thrown the leaf over the fence of the garden. :-) Phototgraphed on 04.09.2011. Equipment used: Nikon D7000, Nikon PB-6 belllows and reversed Rodenstock Rodagon 80/4 lens. #Preimmaginale

Forgive me, but wanting a high zoom ratio I would concentrate on a single caterpillar, or to more distant location to place all three soggtti. The compensated negatiamente Because light is a little 'high.

I like the colors and the composition! My only suggestion would be to decrease the brightness a little.

A leaf with heavy traffic.
Also very nice but very scary (from the point of view of the leaf:-D:-D).
I like very much the colors and I found the brightness good for this kind of shot (it makes the photo more December joyful).

@Pigi47 - yes, it would be nice to have the entire scene in the picture but it wasn't possible with that lens. It has a short focal length and the background would have been too busy. Multiple exposures (stacking) was also not possible, too many exposures were needed (more than 100). So I've chosen this tighter composition.

@Juza - thanks, I've modified it a little bit!

@Gian Piero - thanks! They are quite some leaf predators! MrGreen

I'm agree with Juza it's very nice but what is the composition, the cut and the mix of three subjects in only one shot!

Congratulation, original shot!
