Il “Laghetto di Venere” è una piscina naturale incassata tra la roccia e si affaccia sul Tirreno e le Isole Eolie. Per raggiungerla biogna imboccare una tortuosa scalinata di pietra che discende fino alla riva della cosiddetta Punta Messinese. La scala è circondata da una bellissima vegetazione (fichi d'India ai bordi delle rocce, agavi e tutte quelle piante proprie della macchia mediterranea che dipingono le rocce calcaree) e percorrendola sembra proprio di entrare in Paradiso. Giunti alla meta si apre una serie di rocce asimmetriche in altezza che costituiscono una risacca dentro la quale la marea riversa l'acqua che, protetta da questa corona sassosa, si mantiene particolarmente tiepida e limpida. Essendo questo il punto della Sicilia più vicino alle Isole Eolie, si può godere da una postazione privilegiata di splendidi tramonti e non solo. Di solito viene fotografata dall'alto per avere una visione d'insieme; io ho preferito riprendere la piscina dal basso. Volevo che chi guardasse avesse la sensazione di immergersi nelle sua acque.
