Una foto che merita una descrizione un po' più lunga delle solite. Vedere l'Aurora Boreale è stato uno dei miei sogni fin da piccolo (probabilmente da quando vidi Balto). Fotografarla è stato uno dei miei sogni dal momento in cui ho iniziato a fare foto. Ho prenotato questo viaggio in Islanda quasi un anno prima, sapevo che il mese di agosto non era il migliore per poterla vedere, anzi...ma non avevo alternativa. Durante tutta l'attesa ho passato moltissimo tempo su forum, su youtube o qualsiasi sito utile a cercare di capire quanto fosse possibile effettivamente vederla. E una speranza c'era, dalla metà di agosto le giornate iniziano ad accorciarsi e verso mezzanotte fa buio. Dopo più di metà vacanza senza vedere nulla (vuoi per il meteo o vuoi per l'attività magnetica solare bassa) iniziavamo a perdere speranza. La giornata del 23 agosto invece abbiamo ricominciato ad sperare. Le previsioni meteo davano cielo abbastanza limpido e le previsioni dell'attività magnetica davano possibilità moderate di vedere l'aurora. Ho passato la serata a controllare gli aggiornamenti delle previsioni su http://www.aurora-service.eu/ , incredibilmente da un livello di kp3 si passava a kp6, con una possibilità di avvistarla del 90%!! Abbiamo puntato la sveglia a mezzanotte e abbiamo dormito per un'oretta. Quando siamo usciti dall'hotel abbiamo iniziato a intravedere qualcosa tra le nuvole, era qualcosa di molto debole. Ho scattato qualche foto, nelle quali si vedeva meglio, ma non ero soddisfatto, non era quello che avevo sempre sognato. Abbiamo iniziato ad allontanarci dall'hotel per avvicinarci ad una zona più buia e più bella. Durante questo viaggio in macchina il cielo è cambiato, non c'era più un lieve colore verde. Fasci di luce, che andavano dal verde, al viola, al blu danzavano velocemente sopra la nostra testa! Questo era quello che avevo sempre sognato, questa era la prima Aurora Boreale della nostra vita! Avevo la pelle d'oca e le lacrime agli occhi per la felicità e l'emozione che stavo provando! È stato sicuramente lo spettacolo più bello che abbia mai visto nella mia vita! E condividere questa esperienza con una persona importante come la mia morosa e compagna di avventure è stata la ciliegina sulla torta!
