at 100mm, 1/160 f/4.5, ISO 200,

Thanks Canopus,
I have not yet added the caption and I will do shortly.
In reality it is a woman victim of 'acid .............

I wanted a rough picture and so I added a rather obvious grain.

.... Are fought. Nice document, but I do not know if I would have had the courage to take and publish. In any case, this is India.

I understand Pisolomau but I 've done against his will and I also had qualms Quach since the first photo I posted much more abstract ..... However, when it comes to reporting, as you said yourself, the 'India is also this certain situations and perhaps talk about it the better because many do not know this barbarity ...
And unlike other photos I have certainly tried the 'aesthetics of the photos as I do in other shots but I preferred to focus on the rawness of the scene, ..... (but I'm not sure I succeeded).

Intense ... the image some may be nn welcome, but as you say memy if done with due respect is reportage. In this regard, there was an article on corriere.it "ethics" of the report, but they have already taken, it was very interesting talking to Kevin Carter who won the pulitzer in 1994 with a photo of a African child at the end of life and a vulture waiting for his death x eat it, the photographer waited half an hour, waiting for the vulture opened wings x make his shot ... after he died in 1994, always suicidal.
The fact is that with certain images can arouse the attention and let the world know certain dramatic situations ...

In fact, it is inconceivable! Informing me, as I also wrote in 'another post, I discovered that not only women but also men being a victim ... though certainly with less than .....
and there is no historical reason or pseudo culture since the first case was, if I remember correctly, in 1967 ...

I am a chemist and I suffered severe burns to his face, fortunately without serious detriment, and I can imagine what it is like with a burn which, moreover, has not even been cured. The picture tells a lot about the condition of women in India still suffer torture and beatings, disfigured with razor or as in this case with acid. Not to mention the widows, millions of elderly left without money it right and left to die on the street ...: fconfuso:

Pisolomau I think your vision of 'India is very unbalanced .. I do not know where you went but I have shot in Rajastahn, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and I have to say that of course the status of women is not strictly equal (but in Africa or South America do not have found large differences) and there are serious problems but it is not everywhere and there is absolutely only one!
I'm not one that usually does not turn from 'the other side but I have to say that millions of widows lascite die for road leho views .... indeed, to be honest, I've seen a hard life but often less terrible than I had imagined ....

As for the status of women, the mode will also be different but I'm shocked, worried and angry even as riguardto 'Italy where there is no day in which a woman suffers violence, and where since 2006 Almost 800 women killed by husbands, partners, boyfriends and ex!!
The numbers tell us that 1 in 3 women aged 16 to 70 have been victims of violence and 35% of women victims of violence has no complaint! and 13% of the victims had asked for assistance and made complaints to stalking!
To see these numbers are not a civilized country ..... :-( :-(

Terrible picture .. but the sensitivity of the photographer makes this a great photo reportage.

PS: quotone the last lines of the comment that precedes me.

I think that photos like this have an important value of "complaint" and that deserve to be published and views. They are certainly not photos "pleasing", but you can not just look the other way and pretend that India is only tigers, elegant buildings and beautiful landscapes ...

A punch in the stomach, with great emotional impact, and hardly hold back a tear. Thanks Memy

A photo hard and painful, but necessary to know what is happening in the world.

I honestly do not know if I would have published.

In any case, if I decided to do it, I would have asked permission and would be published without any processing.

Hello.
