I took this just after the UK voted to leave the European Union, in Cardiff, Wales (July).
It shows Donald Trump, who has since gone on to become Republican Presidential Candidate and Britain's then Mayor of London and chief campaigner for Brexit. Boris Johnson soon after was stabbed in the back (politically) and so did not pursue his running for UK Prime Minister.
The image of the two interlocking is shocking and was intended to disgust the people of Cardiff to vote to stay in the EU. Whilst the majority there voted to Remain, of course, as we now know, this scare tactic did not work as a whole. The message was that in the event of Brexit, Johnson would become Prime Minister and would then become "best friends" with Trump (should he become President) in a scene from a nightmare.
But to me, it is the striking half covered up beautifully stunning woman, half covered by the hastily pasted sleaze of the shock poster that stopped me and made me look at it and know I wanted to do something with the photograph.
I have just re-tweaked it via a black and white conversion and wondered if any time would be a good time to post it, so I might as well do so now! |
