at 70mm, 1/200 f/10.0, ISO 100, hand held.

For those interested in owning this new lens from Sigma and wondered how close it can focus 'in the real world', it is not 'macro' but a useful just better than 1/3rd life size, meaning at 70mm and shooting this average size rose last month, gave me this uncropped, unsharpened shot. It shows very good sharpness at the f10 aperture I used. However, the front of the lens (minus the lenshood!) is pushing at the outer nearest petals (top, left). Rather than considering the lens as a macro, it is a good, quite fast standard lens that can also be useful for close ups.
