The dominant Jaguar sent on September 09, 2016 (16:29) by Francesco_lear. 15 comments, 1232 views. [retina]

at 255mm, 1/800 f/5.0, ISO 3200, hand held. Pantanal, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Specie: Panthera onca

Agosto 2016, Porto Jofre

much bigger than a leopard and dimensions similar to those of a lion.

nice picture,
on the point above I would go plan :-D
specimens of male jaguar rarely exceed 100kg.mediamente 70/90.
The male leopard rarely exceeds 60kg
a lioness goes from 110 to average 150kg, a 180 male rare 230kg.casi even up to 280 / 300kg with record of 318kg in nature if not mistaken

Hello Steff, your numbers are giustissimi, however, seen them live can tell you both that an adult male jaguar like this it seemed bigger than a lioness, but definitely smaller than an adult lion. Writing that have dimensions similar to those of a lion wanted to say that this photo was exemplary, such as size, between a lioness and a lion. At least that was my impression from watching this live example of the photos, I have no data in my support :) unfortunately also considers that the Pantanal Jaguars are the largest of the abundance of prey. Instead for female jaguar, the situation is quite different, are much smaller than males and are far from the size also of a lioness.

Thanks for the ride, and the contribution: D

Francis, this year have been reported to the association African lions for speaking too well another animale.mi have sent word that they would bitterly redone so now I try to recover points ....
It is a twisted story, no notice :-D
joking aside it is a convoluted history and the jaguar is still impressive for very massive head relative to the body so it seems bigger than it is.
however, I did not want to do the shyster, I still compliment to the picture and imagine your emotion!
regards
Stephen
