Having been away for two weeks, the purple heather spreading out like a carpet as I drove through the New Forest was a very welcome sight and also meant that I would be home soon! Taken just moments before the rain came..... Thanks for that tip, I tried Googling 'when is heather at its best' a couple of weeks ago and came up with a fat nothing, apart from a strand from a Tripadvisor review about Scotland!

I was fortunate to get this shot - it was really a grabbed shot towards the end of a long journey, when I pulled into a lay by for a few minutes, climbed a fence and walked maybe 10 or 20 metres to get my shot before returning to the car for the last little bit of the journey!
