Decidiamo di passare la notte in rifugio (2320mt), sulle Tre cime di Lavaredo dopo una lunga giornata di escursione. L'idea di fotografare il tramonto in quota dura solo qualche attimo, viste le nubi cariche di pioggia in arrivo. A questo punto speriamo nell'alba. Imposto la sveglia alle 5.00AM. I lampi ed il suono della pioggia ci tengono compagnia durante la notte. Suona la sveglia, salto giù dal letto come una molla, sbircio dalla finestra ma l'unica cosa visibile è una nebbia fittissima. "Merda!", mi rimetto a letto, imposto una nuova sveglia alle 5.30AM, speranzoso. Suona. Giù dal letto, finestra ma l'esclamazione è sempre la stessa "Merda!". Mi rimetto a letto, non ancora del tutto battuto. Il sole sorge alle 6:20, c'è tempo. Non farò una foto dal punto desiderato, ma qualcosa vedrò. Si sentono i primi rumori degli escursionisti che si svegliano e preparano per la colazione. Ci svegliamo anche noi, stufi di dormire. Sbircio dalla finestra. La nebbia è sparita. Infilo pantalone, giacca a vento, prendo la macchina fotografica e scendo di corsa dalle scale. Fuori ci sono appena 2°C che mi aspettano, ed un vento meraviglioso. Corro verso l'inizio del sentiero 101, un mare di nuvole fa galleggiare le tre cime di Lavaredo. Sono sull'isola del cielo. C'è troppo da immortalare, inizio a vedere il sole sorgere tra la cima Ovest e la Croda dei Toni. Ho solo il mio 24mm, ma sarà più che sufficiente. Misurazione parziale, imposto la macchina, un bel respiro, ed inizio una panoramica. Tre. Due. Uno.
