Ha scelto di vivere una vita in disparte, ai bordi della società, e di concentrarsi principalmente sulla propria pratica spirituale. Ha lasciato alle spalle tutto, distaccandosi dai lussi comuni e vive completamente solo. La sua casa è qualsiasi pezzo di terra che lo accoglie non appena decide di coricarsi. Una volta un marciapiede, una grotta, i piedi di un albero o un tempio indù. Lo chiamano "baba", una parola comunissima in India che può significare amico, padre, nonno o zio. È una vita dedicata interamente al sacrificio e che scoraggia molti di quelli che decidono di intraprendere questo lungo cammino verso la luce.
