Il 1° giugno 1378 la Credenza di Lanzo T.se deliberava la costruzione di questo ponte imponendo per 10 anni un dazio sul vino. La spesa fu di 1400 fiorini. La fantasia popolare si sbizzarrì a creare la leggenda secondo la quale fu il diavolo in persona a costruire il ponte dopo che per ben due volte ne era stato edificato uno,e sempre crollato. In cambio il diavolo avrebbe preso con se' l'anima del primo a transitare sul ponte. La costruzione,di eccezionale valore architettonico,e' costituita da un solo arco gotico,lungo m.65,largo 2,27 e alto 15,ed e' motivo ancora oggi di ammirazione e studio.
